Tourniquet

A tourniquet is used in phlebotomy to increase venous filling and distension, making veins more visible and palpable for a successful blood draw. It is applied 3–4 inches above the puncture site and should never be left on for longer than 1 minute to prevent hemoconcentration and inaccurate test results
